Fair Pay for Musicians

  • Tweet your experiences of being asked to work for little/no fee #WorkNotPlayMU
  • Send your stories of being asked to work for little/no fee to worknotplay@themu.org
  • Asked to work for little/no fee? Tell them about Work Not Play and start a conversation about fair pay

We are concerned at the growing trend of professional musicians not being paid for their work.

Musicians rely on live revenue to survive. Income from CD sales is decreasing and illegal downloading continues, making a sustainable career difficult without fair pay for live performances.

Musicians – share your experiences of being asked to work for little or no fee. Tweet using the hashtag #WorkNotPlayMU and send us your stories for Work Not Playvia worknotplay@themu.org

If you like music, support the musicians by supporting fair pay. Music is work, not play #WorkNotPlayMU

Hosting an event and need musicians? See this page for MU rates and more advice.
