Orchestras Travel Policy

This policy has been produced in response to Motion 4 which was carried by the 2023 Musicians’ Union Biennial Delegate Conference.

The document sets out the aspirations of MU Orchestra Section Members with regards to travel and the way it is treated in collective agreements. 

This sample policy for orchestral travel contains considerations for: 

• Mileage payments 
• Out of pocket expenses 
• Travel time
• Train travel and other public transport
• Active travel 
• Health and safety implications
• Accommodations 
• Provision of information 
• Relevant legal advice
