Members to Receive Ballot Papers for Executive Committee and Regional Committee Elections

Executive Committee (EC) and Regional Committee (RC) ballots are due to take place, asking MU members to elect representatives from the membership to represent them at Regional and Executive level.

Following the close of nominations for Executive Committee (EC) and Regional Committees (RC) for 2026-27, EC ballots will take place in the following regions: London, East & South East England and Wales & South West England. An RC ballot will take place in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

All candidates in those regions have been informed by email that a ballot is taking place, and candidates in other regions where a ballot is not required have also been informed.

Make your vote count

Ballots open on Monday 13 October 2025, with ballot packs landing on doorsteps on Tuesday 14 / Wednesday 15 October 2025, depending on local post deliveries.

Any member not receiving a ballot pack after a week of opening should contact UK Engage at mu@uk-engage.org or via telephone on 0345 209 3770.

Ballots close at midday on Monday 10 November 2025 and the results will be published on the MU website as part of the scrutineer’s report.

We broadly welcome Baroness Margaret Hodge’s review of Arts Council England, which reflects many of the concerns raised by the MU and other creative unions. We will now press the government to respond positively to its recommendations.

Landmark Employment Rights Bill Becomes Law

The MU welcomes passage of the Employment Rights Bill, which will now become law. Shaped by trade union input, the legislation represents an important step forward for workers’ rights, equality and protections, with further reforms for freelancers promised in a second phase.
