Orchestral musician Anita Langridge shares her most poignant career moment as part of the Musician Behind the Moment campaign.

“I was playing my double bass in a concert for children in Nottingham with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

“One small boy, who was sitting in the front row with his teacher, was clearly finding the concert overwhelming he would cover his ears and face when the orchestra played, he avoided eye contact and looked anxious.

“Then it was time for an excerpt from The Nutcracker the Waltz of the Flowers.

“As the harpist started playing the beautiful cadenza, the little boy leant back in his seat, closed his eyes and relaxed.

“His teacher looked so relieved and happy as she looked up and smiled at me. It was an intimate and wonderful musical moment which I shall remember.”
