It is with great sadness that we learned today about the death of David Bowie, a lifelong MU member and music legend. His latest work was evidence of his unique ability to reinvent himself and his music and be relevant and brilliant throughout so many decades.

MU General Secretary John Smith says:

"David Bowie was a legendary musician and innovator and the music world will be a sadder place without him. As well as his brilliance, we will remember him for the solidarity he showed with other musicians through his membership of the MU."
