New Clinics Added to the Musicians’ Hearing Health Scheme in Galashiels and Truro

New clinics in Scotland and South West England join a growing list of UK locations where musicians can access affordable, professional hearing support.

Galashiels and Truro are the latest clinic locations for the Musicians’ Hearing Health Scheme, founded in 2016 by Help Musicians in partnership with the MU.

The Musicians’ Hearing Health Scheme has provided thousands of MU members from all over the UK with affordable, one-off access to:

  • An audiological assessment and ear check up from a specialist in musicians' hearing (worth up to £100)
  • Custom-made, ACS Pro Series plugs (worth £149)
  • Expert advice on referral routes and next steps to manage any problems
  • Subsidised wax removal if necessary (at a subsidised rate of £50)

MU members receive a further 25% discount on the scheme, paying only £37.50 for the above package. Those who need more financial assistance to access the scheme can refer to the Help Musicians’ FAQ.

To benefit from the scheme and access these specialist musicians’ hearing health services, you must meet certain eligibility criteria.This includes providing your contact details and evidence that you are a professional musician.

There are permanent clinics in London and Manchester, and regular clinics in Aberdeen, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle, Norwich, Nottingham, Scarborough, Sheffield, Southampton and Whitstable.

How to use your custom-made hearing protection

Once you’ve signed up to the Musicians’ Hearing Health Scheme, completed your audiological assessment and received your custom-made earplugs, you’ll want to know how to use them correctly.
