Plans are underway to build a new £45million venue in the heart of Edinburgh New Town.

The new 1000 capacity venue situated behind the Royal Bank of Scotland head office will be available for rock, pop, jazz, electronica, folk and chamber concerts as well as dance events and will include rehearsal spaces, conference and event facilities, bar, café and restaurant facilities.

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra has joined forces with IMPACT Scotland to draw up plans for the new world-class arts centre, which it hopes to unveil by 2020.

The medium sized venue will be a welcome addition in Edinburgh which is believed to miss out on many major touring acts because of a lack of venues of this size.
