Congo Week, which takes place 19-25 October, is a global week of learning and action to support frontline organizers and communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“Across the world, people are gathering from October 19 to 25 to host and participate in teach-ins, organize benefit concerts, watch films, distribute posters and flyers, dedicate faith services, hold rallies, share information across social media all in an effort to raise awareness and mobilize support for frontline defenders in the Congo,” explains Friends of the Congo, who organise the annual event.

The MU has also made a £500 donation to Congo Week in support of their work.

It follows a motion to MU Delegate Conference 2025, which highlighted the use of minerals in music technology and related supply chain abuses including the exploitation of children and health risks related to cobalt mining.
