Join the MU at the We Make Music Scotland Conference 2026

MU members are invited to attend We Make Music Scotland's National Music Education Conference on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 September 2026 at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Glasgow.

This two-day free event brings together instrumental teachers, freelance musicians and community music practitioners for learning, collaboration and discussion across Scotland’s music education sector.

Explore how music shapes minds and communities through an engaging programme of hands-on workshops, inspiring keynote speakers, presentations, youth performances from across Scotland, and partner trade stalls.

MU Officials will be in attendance throughout the event, ready to meet members and answer any questions about the Union’s work supporting music professionals. Chris Walters, MU National Organiser for Education and Health & Wellbeing, will also be taking part in a panel discussion on music education policy across the UK.

MU Addresses MPs on Music Education

The MU addressed MPs on music education, warning that stagnant funding, university course closures and worsening conditions for teachers are putting the future of music education at risk. The General Secretary also followed up on her meeting with Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
