Accepts MU Access Rider The American is a dockers bar, a sailors bar. A bar for artists and musicians, for weirdos and outcasts, for the workers and protesters, for poets and dog walkers. All are welcome. Our venue is small, specialising in Folk, Rock, Trad, Blues and Jazz! What we're looking for Due to the large number of ongoing events and community groups that use The American—and particularly our upstairs space—on a regular basis, available dates are often limited. However, we’re always keen to work with community groups and artists—anyone looking for a space to pursue something worthwhile. We don’t charge a hire fee for use of the room, but generally we don’t accept bookings for birthdays or private functions. Please note that we have no availability on weekends, as our upstairs bar is home to The Saturday Afternoon Club, The Sunday Sessions, and our cocktail room An Bandia on Friday and Saturday nights. That said, we’re always happy to hear from anyone who feels we could provide a home for artistic workshops, rehearsal spaces, community groups (both established and emerging), poetry nights, gigs, or fundraisers. You get the idea. How to book a gig? Please email us at americanbarbelfast@gmail.com if you’d like to enquire about using the space. americanbarbelfast@gmail.com
