The Creative Workforce Pledge has been developed by the Federation of Entertainment Unions (FEU) – of which the MU is a member – alongside Culture Commons and Excluded UK, as a way of providing metro mayoral areas with a baseline commitment at what will be a difficult period for the sector.

Members in England are encouraged to ask the candidates running in their area to sign the Creative Workforce Pledge, and you can do so today using a quick and easy tool on the Creative Workforce Pledge website.

With more than 20 million people in England choosing their next city-region mayor on 6 May, this is an opportunity to ask future Metro Mayors to place culture and creativity at the heart of an inclusive regional recovery strategy, creating good quality jobs, spurring innovation, promoting diversity and making a positive social impact on health, well-being, education and urban regeneration.

Metro Mayors across the country can play a pivotal role

Our General Secretary Horace Trubridge – who is also President of the Federation of Entertainment Unions – commented on the new campaign:

“We’re proud to be partnering on the Creative Workforce Pledge because it’s the people that make our cultural institutions so special. And the workers in these sectors have had a particularly difficult year.

"Metro Mayors across the country can now play a pivotal role in a culture-led recovery for our regions, and we stand ready to work with them to bring the spirit of this pledge to life.”

Read the pledge and use the tool to send it to your Metro Mayor candidate on the Creative Workforce Pledge website. And don’t forget to spread the word on social media.
