Working in Amateur Theatre

Local amateur theatre companies often produce musicals and it’s a good way to get started, build a CV of shows performed and get a feel for theatre work.

The minimum rate of pay for musicians engaged to perform on shows produced by National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) members is based on the MU/UK Theatre Subsidised rates.

The MU / UK Theatre weekly rate of £607.64 is based on a minimum of 8 calls, but for the purposes of NODA shows, this can be pro-rated to a minimum of 5 calls (per week). The weekly fee for up to 5 calls is therefore £379.77, with additional calls payable at a rate of £75.95.
