About Susanna Wilson

Since gaining performance qualifications from the Royal Academy of Music and a post-graduate teaching qualification from Reading University (all with Distinction) I have enjoyed a fulfilling professional life as a performer and teacher, sharing my love and enthusiasm for the cello with others. In my role as teacher I have truly encompassed students of every age and ability whilst as a soloist, chamber musician and freelance orchestral musician, I have been delighted to perform at venues as diverse as The Barbican, The Bath Assembly Rooms, Norwegian Cruise Liners and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

My current teaching, both privately and within Secondary and Adult Education, gives me enormous pleasure as I find the variety of both individual and group teaching, chamber music/cello ensemble coaching, conducting, arranging music and taking musicianship classes constantly stimulating and rewarding.

As a tutor for The East London Late Starters' Orchestra, I have coached on several residential summer schools and was filmed taking a cello group session by The London University Institute of Education as an example of good practice. Also, within Adult Education, I am a tutor at The Mary Ward Centre, tutor for Strings Together, conduct West London Strings, and enjoy regular invitations to tutor at Morley College and The City Lit.

I am a member of The European String Teachers Association and The Musicians' Union. I also have an up-to-date Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (CRB)
