About Sofia Isobel
I am a jazz, blues singer/songwriter from Berkshire, UK, having just graduated from Oxford University with a languages degree. I love blues and jazz, and from early on as a child idolised singers like Ruth Brown, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday and Donny Hathaway.
My first EP "Almost Blue" and my album 'Edge of a Dream' are available on all streaming platforms. They are a glimpse into my life. The songs are about a first love and a lost love. The EP was tracked simply, with a jazz trio. Upright bass, piano, drums and jazz guitar.
'Almost Blue' and 'Edge of A Dream' by Sofia Isobel are my first stabs at showing my heart to the world and I hope people enjoy it. The EP contains 4 original songs (one in Spanish) and a cover of Angel from Montgomery. 3 tracks were recorded live, 2 from when I opened for Ward Thomas' UK tour accompanied by a guitarist. The other, 'I Wish You Were A Song' was recorded live in New York. My album Edge of A Dream includes 10 original songs, with a jazz quartet.
During my time at Oxford I was lead singer for Oxford University Jazz Orchestra, Salsa Band, and Pembroke College jazz band, performing regularly at concerts, balls and events.
