About Richie T
Richie is an established Vinyl DJ who has been DJing since 1987 at the tender age of 13. Having worked alongside DJs such as Judge Jules, and Anne Savage when they performed in Weymouth, Richie has also played at various events around the UK and in the Channel Islands. Richie can also be heard live on Friday nights from 10PM across the UK on many local FM radio stations as a syndicated show, with The Vinyl Revival show covering various various 90s and 00's dance genres. The show is also broadcast directly on www.vinylrevival.radio.
Richie also has a passion for creating electronic music using hardware synthesizers and many other electronic instruments. Since a young age, Richie has been influenced by famous musicians such as Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis. The authenticity of such electronic music seems to be quite rare in this day and age where 'artificial intelligence' tries to creep in, but this is soon nipped in the bud by using real hardware instruments, DAWless production techniques and a very good understanding of MIDI. Thankfully with Richies involvement in community music projects, the next generation can benefit from this knowledge which other establishments are unwilling to teach.
As a DJ, Richies music style is primarily a hardhouse and trance, Other genres are also covered including early 90s hardcore/oldskool, and also a mixture of house/techno.
Since late 1997 Richie has also been offering DJ tuition either privately or on-location (eg youth clubs/schools) running workshops, which has seen a dramatic increase in demand within the past few years thanks to the resurgence of Vinyl. The benefit of DJing with vinyl is that it can be quite therapeutic to those who are on the autistic spectrum, and/or suffering from anxiety. This makes it a fantastic way to learn - and those who know that if you can DJ on vinyl, then you can DJ with anything digitally as you would have already gained the fundemental tacit knowledge.
As a qualified electrical & electronics engineer, Richie has also used his technical expertise to keep the famous Japanese Technics SL-1200/1210 turntables alive by getting parts back into production and also carrying out servicing/maintenance which has seen an exponential increase in demand as of late (see www.technics-service.co.uk).
Not only has vinyl DJing made a comeback, it is here to stay thanks to the recognition of Turntables as an actual musical instrument.
