About Paul Shine

Paul Shine is a singer, songwriter, musician and poet based in London. With a distinctive voice that can go from gentle tones to soaring heights, elegant piano and guitar skills and Neo-Bohemian aesthetics with a dark twist, the frontman of the band Dead Writers has made his fascination for Romantic and Gothic literature and imagery a trademark that pervades his music, lyrics and artistic vision.

Classically trained from a young age, and influenced by the music of Freddie Mercury, Nick Cave, Sting, Patti Smith, The Beatles and Jeff Buckley, Paul is a highly versatile artist with an impressive repertoire, capable of moving across styles like rock, blues, folk, jazz, pop and more with ease and finesse, invariably adding his own personality to anything he touches. His live shows are captivating, fuelled by musicality, fiery charisma, and a hint of mystical sensitivity, taking listeners on a journey of sonic rapture and electric beauty. His poetry work has been published on print and earned him a place in the international immersive cabaret show The Poetry Brothel.

Paul Shine performs regularly with Dead Writers and as a solo artist, and has shared stages with international acts such as Pale Waves and Hannah Wicklund. Recent performances include venues such as the Barbican Centre Conservatory, Bush Hall (London), La Fab Gallery (Paris), Glastonbury Festival Pilton Stage Semifinals, and numerous independent music venues and festivals across the UK.
