About Nicolas Lewis
Nicolas Lewis is a York-based classical guitarist and composer. A first-class graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, he brings over a decade of professional performance experience to the concert stage, theatre pit, and recording studio.
As a solo instrumentalist Nicolas is a specialist in Classical guitar. He is a current performer with Live Music Now delivering high-level recitals across the North. His performance credits are extensive and varied ranging from the BBC Introducing Stage and BBC Radio 6 Music to live electronic scoring for improvised cinema and national theatre tours.
His work as a composer and musical director informs his solo instrumental playing, providing him with a deep understanding of arrangement and genre. Recent composition highlights include commissions for Streetwise Opera (incl. Opera North) 2025 - 2026, The National Trust, and Bradford 2025 City of Culture. His music has been performed at the Southbank Centre, The Royal Exchange Theatre, Leeds Play House, York Theatre Royal, and the Bridgewater Hall, with the great reviews in the Stage & the Guardian for his involvement in projects.
Available for session work, solo recitals, and collaborative theatre projects, Nicolas combines conservatoire-standard technique with a modern, experimental edge.
