About Kat Perdikomati

Kat Perdikomati is a musician active in different strands of artistic practice: as classical pianist, songwriter/singer, musical theatre performer and piano coach.

As a classical pianist, she initially trained at the National Conservatoire in Athens where she graduated from with distinction in 2001 and received private tuition with Prof. Christopher Elton. She then went on to complete a Masters’ in Piano Performance at Goldsmiths College in 2014 (University of London). Katwas kindly supported by Goldsmith College’s International Student Fund and acknowledges further sponsorship via the P. and M. Lovell Trust.

She performed Schubert’s Divertissement a l’ hongroise for 4 hands for fashion designer Erdem’s Summer 2009 show during London Fashion Week and a year later she played a concert alongside tuba player John William Banther at Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

In November 2012, she participated in the Senior Intercollegiate Piano Competition organised by the Beethoven Society of Europe and in May 2013, she made her debut at the Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room performing John White’s Piano Sonata with Goldsmiths’ Contemporary Music Ensemble.

Kat was personally selected by Artur Pizarro to participate in a showcase masterclass at Venables Pianos (April 2013) and has taken part in masterclasses given by piano giants Andrei Gavrilov, Dmitri Alexeev and Stephen Kovacevich at Dartington Summer School with a bursary provided by Dartington Hall Trust.

In the summer of 2014 she performed at LSO St Luke’s as part of the Soundhub’s series premiering an ensemble piece written by resident composer Helen Papaioannou. She was also the pianist for ‘Calculated to Death’, a contemporary opera composed by S. Laskowski which premiered at Tete a Tete opera festival in two sold-out shows, favourably reviewed in The Telegraph in 2014.

As a songwriter/singer, she is active under the guise of Kat Vipers having written, produced and released 5 records since 2005 with funding from Arts Council England (SummerBloodyTime) and support from Westminster University’s Music Technology studio (Longplay), Kingston University’s Music Department (Hot Air Balloon) and Alchemea College (A New Career In A New Town). She has featured in Notion magazine, Music Week (Record of the Week – Hot Air Balloon in 2007), Drowned in Sound, Musicians’s Union magazine, BBC Radio 3 and World Service, John Kennedy in Spill, and was the winner for MacMillan’s Big Mix competition in 2011. She has performed live for XFM Radio and Resonance FM and has toured in venues across the UK solo and with a backing band, to critical acclaim.

Kat founded East London Piano, a piano school open to both children and adults in the London Borough of Hackney in 2011 and continues to act as its MD to date. In 2020, the school was nominated as ‘Independent business of the year’ by Club Hub UK, and Kat in the ‘Female Enterpreneur of the year’ category. The school maintains a high profile in graded examinations, as well as local and national competitions, and has welcomed a number of celebrity pupils through the years.

She also runs Little Voices Hackney since 2018, an award-winning national franchise offering training in musical theatre to children ages 4-18.
