About Joshua Knight

Josh is a guitar and bass player with over 14 years playing and performing experience. Based in South East England, Josh has performed and toured with cover and tribute bands across the UK as well as playing guitar and bass in pit orchestras for musical theatre productions. Josh has been a fully freelance musician since July 2024.
In autumn 2024, Josh also set up the concert promotion and production company Jam Soup Music.

While studying at East Sussex Academy of Music, Josh began developing his musical capabilities by arranging for the 20+ strong session band as well as studying music technology and production. During this time, Josh also worked for Bella Union Records at their store in Brighton co-running events for artists such as John Grant, Penelope Isles and Jonathan Wilson (Solo / Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters). After leaving college, Josh went on to work at Resident Music in Brighton where he managed the shop floor team and also helped run album release events for acts including Ezra Collective, Fatboy Slim, CMAT, Shame and Johnny Marr (one of Josh’s guitar heroes).

Alongside working in and out of record shops, Josh has played guitar and bass in a multitude of cover and tribute shows to sell-out crowds across England. Some of the tributes Josh has performed in include tributes to Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Carole King, Billy Joel as well as Classic Rock, Disco and Musical Theatre revues.

In 2024, Josh began producing The Album Era concert series - a collective of musicians performing classic albums in their entirety. The band's first performances will take place in 2025 performing Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run and The Beatles' Rubber Soul albums in their entirety.
In 2025, Josh also joined the Fleetwood Mac Songbook tribute show depping in the Lindsey Buckingham role on lead guitar and vocals. With the band he will be touring in venues across the UK.
Josh also performs with the Sussex-based classic rock cover band Overdrive tackling guitar riffs and solos by the likes of Jimmy Page, Joe Walsh, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix and Richie Blackmore.

Since the start of 2024, Josh has also begun giving private guitar, bass and ukulele lessons for all ages and abilities.

As a reading pit musician, Josh has also played guitar for a number of productions including Rent (bass), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (guitar and mandolin), The Addams Family (bass), Annie (guitar [2021] and bass [2025]) and Our House (guitar).

Considering the shows Josh has been a part of, his guitar playing style has been influenced by ‘classic’ players including George Harrison and David Gilmour, however he also has been heavily influenced by indie icons like Johnny Marr, and Joey Santiago. Also interested in extended techniques such as slide guitar and acoustic fingerpicking, Josh has spent countless hours studying guitarists such as Derek Trucks, Ian Seigal and Lindsey Buckingham.
