About Joanna Borrett
Joanna Borrett is a composer and cellist. Several of her pieces are included in Trinity College and the ABRSM's viola and cello exam syllabuses .
Joanna's first string orchestra work - Clan - was recorded by Her Ensemble and the recording was chosen as Album of the Weekend by Magic Classical, Video of the Day by Gramophone and has been played on Radio 3's programmes Earlier and Classical Unwind. Clan has also been played at the royal investitures at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh.
The recording of Joanna’s song cycle – Moments of Freedom – came out in September 2025 and this year Signum Classics is promoting three of Joanna’s string orchestra pieces. The first of these – Then – was released recently, immediately chosen to be on Spotify's New Classical playlist, and streamed by 5.2k people in its first week. Rebellion - a concerto grosso with violin and cello soloists - will be released on July 28th.
