About Georgina Butcher

Georgina Butcher is a talented dyslexic composer and sound designer specialising in media, including film, television, and video games. Born in Basingstoke, Hampshire, in 2000, Georgina's journey into the world of music began at the age of seven when she started learning the piano. Her early passion for music was nurtured through her school years, and she began composing at the age of fifteen.

Georgina pursued her Bachelor’s degree in Music with a focus on Film Composition at the London College of Music (LCM) from 2018 to 2021. Following her undergraduate studies, she returned to LCM to complete a Master’s degree in Music, specialising in Music for Film and TV, from 2022 to 2023. Her academic background laid a solid foundation for her career in composition and sound design, equipping her with both technical skills and creative insights.

Her compositional style is deeply inspired by the orchestral works of renowned composers such as John Powell, John Williams, and Joe Hisaishi. Georgina's ability to blend rich orchestral textures with emotional depth has made her a sought-after composer in the media industry. Her sound design scores draw significant influence from the innovative works of Jóhann Jóhannsson, Tom Holkenborg (also known as Junkie XL), and Ryuichi Sakamoto. These inspirations are evident in her unique ability to create immersive and evocative soundscapes.

Georgina's style is marked by her dedication to storytelling through her music. Her compositions enhance the narrative of visual media, providing audiences with an enriched experience. She has worked on various projects, from short indie films to theatre, showcasing her versatility and adaptability as a composer and sound designer.
