About Darnell Williams
DFlexXx aka 23-year-old Cardiff born Welsh rapper Darnell Ramone Williams has a unique, credible and commercial sound that is a blend of Hip Hop and Trap - predominantly rooted in the contemporary UK Rap scene.
DFlexXx lists his inspirations as Chris Brown, Drake, Tyga, Travis Scott and Lil Wayne and is also
influenced by the 90’s era in which he grew up.
The Story So Far
DFlexXx found and developed his performing skills from the young age of 6 years old from being a member of dance troop Jukebox Juniors. Who were the first kid's group in Wales to become known on the International stage, and were featured in a documentary by the BBC and came an impressive 2nd on Sky 1’s popular TV dance competition and show ‘Got to Dance’.
DFlexXx is a prolific songwriter and says that his self-penned new single Mus B came to him whilst driving in his car on his way to work. He says he wanted to write something trendy and catchy and thought that there was nothing trending more than TikTok, and so wanted to highlight in his lyrics that it is usually females who trend on TikTok - particularly when dancing with their friends, and showing off and sharing their various talents as well as their dance skills.
When he is not working on his own material DFlexXx can be found in his role of teaching dance, and working as the lead producer for online and face to face events; for the black and ethnic minority organisation Jukebox Collective in Wales. The purpose of the organisation is to inspire underprivileged children and encourage them to take up the creative arts.
Outside of creating music DFlexXx’s hobbies include working out in the gym, and creating new dances for his students. He is also interested in music, fashion and content creation.
DFlexXx enjoys sport and plays basketball regularly in normal times. He also used to play rugby and was scouted for Cardiff Blues - but his heavy schedule with dance meant that it was not possible to pursue that particular opportunity. He also trained for white-collar boxing which he is very keen on, and he enjoys acting which is something that he would also like to pursue and do more of.
The Future
DFlexXx’s ambition is to become the biggest rapper to come out of Wales, and he intends to come into the game; turn it sideways and help the Hip Hop sound become stronger and last longer. He intends to be diverse, and he hopes that he can make records and write songs and raps that the majority of people will enjoy, and also break records like his inspiration Canadian rapper Drake has.
Top UK dance DJ and producer Joel Corry was the inspiration behind the instrumental in terms of creating the driving and uplifting beats, main riff and hooky bassline that later became the basis of TikTok. With noted EDM Producer Battery aka Brian Lodwick from Portland, Oregon taking the helm and creating the final EDM radio edit mix of TikTok Mastered by Shane The Cutter.
DFlexXx is currently busy writing new songs and working on a follow up to TikTok, and he is looking forward to promoting TikTok and performing it live.
