About Coreysan
Biography:
Coreysan is a Bristol based/Trinidad born musician and producer who describes his music as Alternative Caribbean Music.
Earthy bass and soulful beats with raspy, soothing vocals and a storyteller approach to his lyrical compositions, reminiscent of Calypso, all combine to give his music a rootsy, thought provoking, bass driven and mysterious flavour.
In his homeland…
Coreysan has been a musician/artist for over 36 years, performing as a solo musician and as a bassist/vocalist with various top bands in Trinidad including 3 Canal, Mungal Patasar, Calypso Rose, Oddfellows Local, Jointpop, Kin Sound System, Gyazette, Kindred.
Coreysan is also a pioneer of the live electronic music scene in his homeland being the first musician to bring a computer to the stage as an instrument with his band Atheleny (2001-2004) and then with his solo project Coreysan (2004 – present).
Coreysan's Music:
Coreysan has self released 2 full length albums in 2004 (Coreysan) and 2006 (Light and Shadow) from his homeland and a 6 song EP called “In Transit” in October 2014 from his new home in Bristol.
In June 2015 a 5 song EP called "The Trance and The Dance" was released by Frillbeats Ltd, an independent record label based in Bristol in June 2015.
His new 7 song album called “Deeper than skin” was released in late October 2020 on Blind Colour, a label owned by his long-time friend, fellow musician and producer of Ink Project, Jeremy “Jez” Lloyd.
Collaborations outside of Trinidad:
: With Alonestar (Jethro Sheeran), winner of two Exposure Music 2010 Awards for Best Male Artist and Best Urban Song, Coreysan has appeared as a bassist and vocalist/lyricist on a number of his musical productions including the song called
“Real Life” which featured Alonestar's cousin, Ed Sheeran.
: His second major Bristol/Trinidad collaboration was with Kristian Townsend who also managed Reel Me Records where they collaborated on 2 tracks featuring vocals and lyrics from Coreysan called “Slave of Time” and “Return to One”. The tracks were released in March 2013 and have been remixed by both Jon Kennedy and Dubspeeka.
: Featured in the narration in the promo video for good friends and fellow musicians “Jus Now”. The duo of Sam Interface (Bristol) and Keshav “LazaBeam” Chnadradath Singh (Trinidad).
Coreysan's voice is also featured on Jus Now's "Cyar Help It" EP on the track called "Culture"
:Featured as a vocalist and lyricist on “Soul Food”, “Time” and “Future Now” on the album "Satellite on" by Ink Project and is also performing live with them as a lead singer and bassist.
This album also features collaborative work with Fifi Rong along the band's core members Jeremy Lloyd (Blind Colour) and Melanie Diamond
:As a bassist with Matuki, an afro-beat band based in Bristol. Also featured on their soon to be released album and video for “Kudon”
: Featured as a singer and songwriter on “Hijacked”, “Time to Love” and “Heavy” with Grant Dell on his reggae/dub label LegsMan Records
:Featured as a singer and songwriter on Jon Kennedy's “The Lord Tarries”
:As a bassist on “Groove” by EchoSlim & The Real Jeilah
:As a producer for remixes of “Devil” and “Jah Jah” by Mangoseed
:As a producer for the remix of “Moonbeat” by The Inexplicables

:As a vocalist and lyricist on “New Phase” and “Feeding the Fire” on the album “Rhythm Spirit” by Ink Project released in 2021. Coreysan is also featured on the video for “Feeding the fire”.
Gigs around the world…
Coreysan has performed as a solo artist internationally at MMC12 (Millennium Music Conference, Pennsylvania, USA) 2008, The Cobden 2008 (London, UK), SXSW 2009 (South by South West, Texas, USA) and numerous venues in Bristol.
As a session bassist/vocalist, he has performed with Mungal Patasar, 3 Canal and more so with the Queen of Calypso Music, Calypso Rose, on her international tours. With them, he has performed at major world festivals like Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Womex Festival (Spain), Lincoln Center (New York, USA), Womad Festival (UK, Spain, Australia and New Zealand), Timitar and Mawazine Festivals (Morocco), The Barbican (London), The New Jazz Cafe (London), Paleo Festival (Switzerland), Sakifo Musik Festival (Reunion Island), Ariano Folk Festival (Italy), the Olympia and Victoires De La Musique (France) to name a few.
