About Connor Hopkins
Connor Hopkins is a London Based Freelance Drummer and Educator who has recently completed his BA Music Industry degree specialising in Drums, where he achieved a First Class Honours result. At the Academy of Contemporary Music Connor studied under tutors such as Brian Henry (The Jacksons, Soul2Soul, Chaka Khan), Paul Geary (Nik Kershaw, Lisa Stanfield, George Michael) and Tim Hawes (The Spice Girls, Five, Sugababes), and is currently working with Musical Directors such as Ashton Miranda (Ed Sheeran, Mabel, Anne Marie) and Sandy Beales (One Direction, JP Cooper).
For the last 4 years, Connor has been working professionally in a variety of industry settings. Highlights include:
- Supporting Ed Sheeran on his Mathematics UK Stadium Tour, with Dylan.
- Supporting Ed Sheeran, at the Royal Albert Hall, with Dylan.
- Supporting Tate Mcrae on her European Tour, with Dylan.
- Supporting Bastille’s UK Tour, with Dylan.
- Supporting Griff’s UK Tour, with Dylan.
- Supporting Thomas Headon’s UK Tour, with Dylan.
- Personally requested to perform, with Chaos in the Tea House at the “YouthStrike4Climate”, the biggest global Climate Strike, by Noga Levy-Rapoport.
- Featuring on BBC News, about “How Musicians are Living Under Lockdown”.
Connor has experience using Hybrid Kit combinations incorporating SPD-SX with click tracks and samples programmed through his DAW of choice, Logic Pro X. He has a handful of experience in the studio setting, working with the likes of Studio 91, Brighton Electric and Neuman Studios. Connor has a great understanding of how to get a modern sound for tracks through the use of tuning, microphones (Audix D6, Shure SM81 and SM57) with a combination of electronics.
