Ben read Music at The University of York before gaining his MA in Musical Direction at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. He recently completed his PGCert in Vocal Pedagogy from Voice Study Centre and The University of Wales, Trinity St. David, and is currently working toward his Certificate of Estill Figure Proficiency (EFP) with Estill Voice International. He is, additionally, a registered Vocal Health First Aider with Vocal Health UK.

As a musical director, Ben’s career has included extensive experience conducting professionally in theatre and choral industries. He is currently serving as Musical Director for We Will Rock You for Royal Caribbean International and Vocal Supervisor for production shows on board Anthem of the Seas. Recent theatre credits include The White Handkerchief (BBC 4, BBC 1 Northern Ireland, BroadwayOnDemand), Ordinary Days (The Cockpit) (Winner of 2022 OffComm Award), Godspell (Ye Olde Rose and Crown) (Winner of 2022 Offie Award for Best Musical Direction) and The Music of James Bond (National Tour, Germany). Ben’s choral direction appointments include BBC Children in Need, Military Wives Choir York, Interlude Choir London and BBC York in Harmony.

A highly sought-after singing teacher, Ben serves on the vocal faculty at some of the UK’s top drama schools, including Mountview, Laine Theatre Arts, Italia Conti, MPAA Academy and Emil Dale Academy. Formerly, Ben was Head Of Music at SLP College, Leeds, and module leader for Singing Technique at PQA College and D&B Academy. He has also been booked for workshops, projects and masterclasses at International College of Musical Theatre, All In Actors, Bruiser Graduate Academy and many more. Ben maintains a thriving teaching practice with current and former clients starring in London’s West End, on UK and international tours, enjoying highly successful careers as lead vocalists and singer-songwriters and studying at some of the most prestigious arts institutions in the world.
