Every November, the Trades Union Congress (TUC) turns its focus to young members, celebrating their impact and supporting members to build union power in their workplaces.
Musicians’ Union members are invited to get involved in their programme of events, including:
- Supporting Migrant Workers: a workshop looking at practical workplace support, how the visa system works, and organising and campaigning for Migrant Workers in London and East & South East England
- Young Workers Patrol and Sheffield Transformed: a trade union patrol speaking to young retail and hospitality workers about their rights at work and why they should join a union, followed by a session talking about what you’ve learned with Sheffield Transformed, for members in Yorkshire, North East and Humber.

Making young musicians aware of their rights
Trade union patrols are an important organising exercise, regularly run by the TUC nationally and regionally to learn more about the challenges facing people at work.
They are an opportunity to inform people about their rights, break taboos around talking about pay and conditions, and introduce more people to the trade union movement.
