Touring is a vital part of Wales’ performing arts ecology, yet it is increasingly complex to navigate — especially for artists and arts workers with caring responsibilities.

Parents & Carers in Performing Arts (PiPA) are inviting performing arts organisations and freelancers across Wales to take part in one of PiPA’s Roundtables, exploring how touring can become more viable, inclusive, and accessible for parents and carers working in the performing arts.

Roundtable outcomes

PiPA is holding two in-person sessions, at Theatr Cymru and also Theatre Clwyd (as part of the Creu Cymru conference), bringing together a mix of voices from across the sector. The discussions will:

  • Identify key challenges and barriers to touring as a parent and / or carer.
  • Discuss practical strategies that organisations and freelancers can adopt.
  • Co develop ideas and strategies to take forward.

The findings will feed directly into a free online toolkit designed to support more inclusive touring practices in Wales.

Your voice is key

Your lived experience and professional insights are essential. By joining a PiPA Roundtable, you’ll be contributing directly to a resource designed to support fairer, more flexible, and more inclusive touring practices across Wales.

This is a chance to influence sector wide change and ensure that touring careers in Wales are more sustainable for everyone.
