Blind sitar master Baluji Shrivastav OBE – who you may have seen featured in our Musician Behind the Moment campaign – has produced a music, dance and visual performance which considers sight and sightlessness.

The performance is called ‘Antardrishti – Inner Vision’ and has been inspired by Chapter 11 of the Hindu philosophical epic the Bhagavad Gita. It will explore the concept of divine sight, using music, dance and film.

The project includes the Inner Vision Orchestra, the only blind ensemble in the UK, which was founded by Baluji himself. There will also be special guests from India – Sayani Palit, Raju Maurya, Perumal Varudaraj and Chimanlal Patel.

Also featured on stage will be:

  • UK digital artists Addictive TV, creating a visual soundscape sampling musicians and sounds filmed in India
  • Classical Indian dance presented by Arunima Kumar Dance Company
  • Narration by blind storyteller Giles Abbott
  • Lighting design by David Abra.

Antardrishti – Inner Vision, is an Unlimited International Commission, celebrating the work of disabled artists. It has been produced by Baluji Music Foundation with support from Arts Council England, British Council and PRS Foundation.
