We are proud to announce that the MU now has over 35,000 members in its community!

As our membership grows, so does our collective power and we become stronger as a Union.

Supporting members through tough times

MU Head of Membership Wasim Yunus says: “Having more than 35,000 members is a testament to our hard work, but more importantly to the faith that members have in the MU.

“In recent times, the Union has supported members through the COVID-19 pandemic, the uncertainty of Brexit, and a devastating cost-of-living crisis, which highlights just how important membership is.”

“The MU’s continued growth further showcases it as the natural home for musicians from all genres, working right across the music industry. The diversity of membership makes this milestone even more celebratory, and confirms that members trust the Union to always put their interests first.”

Members have access to a wide range of benefits

Our role is to make musicians’ lives better every day, and a big part of this is through the benefits and services we provide to members.

Members have access to a wide range of benefits including instrument and equipment insurance, Public Liability Insurance, and our free Contract Advisory Service.

Visit our benefits page to find out how we can help you get the guidance you need, take care of your health and wellbeing, navigate the music industry and more.

Our collective power makes us strong

When we come together and act as a collective, we can create real change.

Reaching 35,000 members means we have an increasingly powerful voice in workplaces and when we speak to decision makers.

The Union is working hard to represent all members equally and you will see this in our communications, policy making and in our structures.

If you would like to be part of this positive change, please put yourself forward for one of our Committees, join an MU member network or stand as a delegate for our 2025 Delegate Conference.
