The MU’s Recording and Broadcasting team has announced a record royalty distribution of just over £2 million for 2025 – the highest in its history.
This milestone surpasses the previous record of £1.57 million set in 2023, marking a significant achievement for the organisation and our members.
A record payout in a challenging climate
The news comes at a time when the music industry faces mounting challenges, including low pay, the growing impact of artificial intelligence, and reduced funding for the arts. Against this backdrop, the record distribution offers a welcome boost for working musicians.
