Five Free Tickets Available for Birmingham BAPAM Healthy Performance Workshops

These introductory two-hour sessions are designed for performing arts professionals and students and will outline risk factors and key strategies to maintain good health throughout a sustainable career.

These sessions will outline risk factors and key strategies to maintain good health throughout a sustainable career.

Five free places will be available to MU members on the following BAPAM Healthy Performance Workshops. You will need to select the free 'DID Fund Award Winners' tickets when registering for these events.

All three events will take place on Wednesday 13 November, at the MU’s Midlands Regional Office, 2 Sovereign Court, Graham Street, Birmingham B1 3JR.

Introduction to Vocal Health

10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Participants will learn how to avoid vocal problems and identify the signs and symptoms if they do occur, how to manage issues, promote good health, and where to go for help.

Physical Health and Injury Prevention

1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Participants will learn how to avoid injury, identify the signs and symptoms of musculoskeletal problems, what to do to promote good health, and where to go for help.

Keeping mentally well: managing performance anxiety

3:30 pm – 5:30 PM

Participants will learn skills for optimal performance practice including pre and post-performance techniques, how to identify signs of performance and arts-career related mental health problems, how to manage problems including performance anxiety, promoting good health, and where to find help.

Tribute to Gil Martin

Gilbert Alexander Martin was a successful and highly accomplished pianist, as well as a lifelong member and supporter of the Musician's Union. He passed away on 29 May 2024. This tribute has been provided by Gil’s daughters, Gillian and Susan.
