My name is Bridget Walsh and I’m an artist based in South London, though I’m originally from Aotearoa, New Zealand. I have been long involved with the NZ Green Party as an ambassador-at-large, alongside my touring and performance career.

I’m a singer, keys player, composer, arranger and bandleader of future-soul band, 10:32. I’ve been a vegan for 15 years and have embedded activism into my artistry since 2018, trying to always find the overlap between the two.

It’s my honour to be an elected co-chair of the MU’s Climate Emergency Action Group since our formation, along with my friend Balraj Samrai.

Welcome to our green hub

I’m so excited that our green pages are now live! It’s early days for this corner of the internet, but this has been a labour of love for our group, who have been meeting online every few months for a couple of years now.

This work lies at the intersection of our passion for music and our passion for trying to make the world a safer, kinder and more sustainable place to be.

The new hub features a fresh new manifesto for you to explore, along with a range of useful tips and resources. Most importantly, if this work resonates with you, we’d love to hear from you. You can reach us at green@themu.org to share your thoughts, ideas, areas of expertise, or passions. You might even consider joining our action group to help shape and sustain this vital work.

Music, Solidarity and the Climate Crisis

This is a rapidly evolving landscape, and as musicians and human beings, we’re doing our best to navigate these deeply troubling times. We’re exploring how we can contribute our voices, art, and energy to the fight against climate collapse - and to addressing its far-reaching consequences for all life on this planet.

Climate justice is social justice, and nothing exists in isolation. This work can be both energising and exhausting, but we’re grateful to Naomi and the Union for creating this space where we can come together to explore how, both as individuals and as a collective Musicians’ Union, we can be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

In love, hope and solidarity,

Bridget x
