About the event
The MU, The Ivors Academy, Help Musicians UK, Attitude is Everything and ConnectsMusic are partnering to host this roundtable to bring together those who are currently unable to return to work within the music industry, due to the continued risk of Covid-19.
Although we are witnessing the long overdue return of live events, festivals, tours and in-person creative work, it is clear that not all musicians and artists are able to step off the sidelines and get their careers moving again, leading to financial hardship and difficulties sustaining mental health.
Who is this session for?
Musicians and music creators who are currently unable to play live and tour, along with those who cannot attend studios to write and record or are prevented from leading or joining songwriting and composing sessions or workshops.
This includes individuals who are shielding to protect their health or the health of somebody they live with.
What are the aims of this session?
• Enable peer support by connecting artists and musicians to share experiences and approaches to navigating this part of their careers.
• Guide the MU, Ivors Academy and Attitude is Everything on what support is needed to enable musicians and music creators to remain in the industry.
• Give attendees a clear picture of current support available to sustain careers during this time, including outlining available funding and wellbeing support.
Is this session private?
Yes. This session will not be streamed, recorded, broadcast or shared in the public domain. We respect the sensitive nature of this topic and want to create a secure environment for participants to speak freely about how they are navigating this stage of their careers.
We expect there to be around 10-15 musicians to be part of the conversation.
A representative from The MU, The Ivors Academy, Help Musicians UK and Attitude is Everything will be present in the session to moderate the roundtable and provide guidance on support that is available.
