About the event

This is a one day in-person accredited First Aid course for MU members.

Participants will learn:

  • The role of a first aider
  • How to assess an incident
  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally or who is not breathing normally
  • How to manage a casualty who is wounded and bleeding, in shock, choking or with a minor injury

Further details

A First Aid manual will be provided.

Participants should be able to kneel on the floor and be free from any ailments, including sprains and aches or any other condition that will prevent them from being able to satisfactorily perform the practical activities, such as CPR and recovery position. If a participant can’t demonstrate the practical activities the Awarding Body will not be able to issue a certificate.

It is advisable to wear comfortable clothing and we kindly request that participants do not wear lipstick as this can stain the training mannequins.

Participants are required to:

  • Arrive at 9:50am for registration (arrive promptly as you may be refused admission due to lateness)
  • Bring an original, in-date form of photo ID for registration (this must match the name on your booking and is required for your certificate)

Please note that lunch is not provided.

About the course

PDF certificates are issued within 3 days of attending the course.

This is an accredited or regulated course. This means that certificates are issued by the Awarding Body. All certificates for accredited courses issued by a recognised Awarding Body will always have the Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) logo. Ofqual regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England, and is a non-ministerial department of the government.

The course is delivered in English and the assessment will require writing, verbal and reading comprehension to complete the course.

How to attend

The course is offered at a subsidised price of £25, and is non refundable.

Places are very limited, so please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Accessibility

Please contact education@themu.org if you have a question regarding access requirements or the accessibility of the course or venue at least 1 week ahead of the event to discuss what you need.

The MU makes every effort to ensure that all events we organise are accessible to everyone who would like to attend. We want to provide equal access to our events for all our members.
