About the event

Help Musicians is an independent charity with an extraordinary history. For nearly 100 years, it has provided a broad spectrum of help, support and opportunities to empower musicians aged 18+ at any stage of their career or retirement, from times of great need to times of opportunity, providing a lifetime of support when it is needed most.

The charity is uniquely placed to take a personalised approach with each individual supported through its integrated programme that offers emerging and established professional musician’s assistance across health and wellbeing, business skills and creative development.

Help Musicians aims to make a meaningful difference to the lives of professional musicians and is passionate about creating a world where musicians thrive. Join Nikki MacRae and Meghan Gilleece (Help Musicians), along with Louise Stanners Pow (Musicians' Union) via Zoom where we will be discussing the wide spectrum of support we have to offer, including:

  • Creative opportunities and financial support: Advice on what funding streams are available to artists in Northern Ireland from Help Musicians and The MU. We will also discuss how to build a strong application, considering creative endeavors for our more open funds, as well as discussing the support available through the Help Musicians Coronavirus Hardship Fund.
  • Health & welfare: Information about the Help Musicians Health & Welfare help for artists and our 24/7 support service, Music Minds Matter. We know that being a professional musician is tough. When things go wrong, money worries can quickly mount up. HM provide help for people in a crisis, facing a long-term illness or disability, or coping with retirement.
  • General info: Information on what Help Musicians has achieved so far and a discussion about their events, the partnerships they have established, and current fundraising opportunities.

This will be a chance to talk about plans for the future, and for attendees to find out how they can get involved. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions.
