About the event

The Creative Industries Safety Passport is a one-day health and safety course designed specifically for workers - employed or freelance - working in film, TV, theatre and live events.

It promotes a safety culture based on personal responsibility for safety. This means that it encourages delegates to be proactive in their own safety and the safety of others.

Content

The course was redesigned post-COVID to cover essential health and safety basics, while also focusing on specific hazards that crop up in the creative industries. It is regularly updated to reflect the current working environment.

The course is split into four modules and includes: Introducing Creative Industry Safety, Defining Hazard and Risk, Hazards and Practical Control Measures, and Improving Safety Performance.

Accreditation

The course is approved by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) under their Passport scheme, which is nationally recognised and follows:

  • The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) syllabus guidelines
  • Screen Skills’s National Occupational Standards in Health and Safety X2, X3 and X3.5
  • BECTU/UK Theatre Code of Conduct for Get-in/Get-outs.

It is a level 2 qualification that is valid for 3 years, and comes with a workbook pdf and robust credit card size ID with a tamper proof HoloKote finish.

All Safety Passport holders are registered on the IOSH central database so verification is an easy process. With so many employers asking for proof of health and safety training, BECTU is providing an approved qualification that is relevant to creative industries workers.
