About the event

The aim of this workshop is to provide learners with a framework that they can use to further develop their understanding of music (and audio) production. Viewing them as a series of distinct processes.

It will cover the following areas:

  • Concepts
  • Finding Inspiration
  • Dealing with ‘writer's block’
  • Generating Ideas
  • Using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation)

Often, modern music creation tools come with a blinding array of options, which in itself can stifle one's creative output. Using a ‘less is more’ approach, it’s hoped that ‘decision paralysis’ associated with such an abundance of choice can be limited, allowing the creator to create. The ultimate aim – to keep it simple!

What you need to prepare

  • For part of the workshop, participants will have needed to register for a free account at www.bandlab.com, using a valid email address. This is a 100% free and easy-to-use music production site, and cross platform app, that lets you record, mix, collaborate, master and release your music and audio projects
  • A fully charged phone, laptop, chromebook or tablet that's able to run the BandLab app / website.
  • Power source as necessary
  • Earphones / earbuds
  • Notepad and pen.

Hosted by an MU Learning Rep

This event will be hosted by one of CULT Cymru’s Freelance Learning Reps for the MU.

The aim of a Learning Rep is to connect with musicians/composers/music tutors/ producers and those who are new, or interested in, pursuing careers in the industry to discover where the skill gaps are and what training is needed. Find out more about Union Learning Reps in Wales.
