Royal Scottish National Orchestra

Agreement between Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) and the MU for employed and self-employed orchestral musicians.

Please note that this agreement is currently under negotiation. The RSNO has confirmed that as of 1 October 2025, the following concert rates are being paid to freelancers, albeit not endorsed by the MU as we are still in discussion about them. We understand that all other terms and conditions from the 2021 agreement are applicable. A copy of this old agreement is available for download.

Rates of pay for freelance players

Basic Concert Fee

A concert of up to three hours in length with a rehearsal of up to three hours in length on the same day including 12.08% holiday pay.
