About Samantha Oliver
My name is Samantha and I am a professional musician and educator who studied at both Edinburgh Napier University (undergraduate) and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (postgraduate). I specialise in tenor trombone with secondary dicipline in sackbut and alto trombone.
Through my work as an educator I have also become very adept at playing the Bb trumpet/cornet; euphonium and piano.
I welcome opportunities to perform (across genres) allowing me to further my experience and knowledge of music.
I have worked in Classical; Brass Band; Musical Theatre; Jazz; Big Band; Impressionism; Contemporary; Serialism; and Baroque thus far. All of which have been solo; chamber; commercial; and orchestral works.
During my studies I found an anfinninty for brass instruction and have moulded that into a career path. I am currently teaching in and around Hertfordshire, England. My work revolves around all ages and my aim is to create a fun and engaging atmosphere that all students can learn and grow their potential. I believe in setting up for success and as such teach musical history; theory; aural; and performance.
