About Lys Darkgyal
Lys Darkgyal, born in Santiago de Compostela, Galiza, is a renowned Reggae-Soul singer and DJ. Since 2009, she has been a prominent figure in the international reggae scene, blending soulful vocals with Spanish roots, R&B, and reggae. Starting as a DJ in Barcelona, she later transitioned to singing professionally, collaborating with artists like Wöyza and Winston Francis. In 2015, she moved to Bristol, where she worked closely with Uri Green from Yam&Banana Studio, leading to her debut solo single "Luz" in 2024.
Lys has performed at major venues and festivals like Royal Albert Hall, Boomtown, and Glastonbury. She is also active in the Bristol soundsystem scene, collaborating with collectives such as Rising Youth and Pana Dub. Lys founded Simaly Sound, an all-female Dub/Reggae collective, and continues to evolve as an artist, with her latest single “Ay Amor” released in 2025, blending reggae and flamenco. Looking ahead, she is set to explore new musical territories, ensuring her place as a versatile and dynamic artist.
