About Jake Slocombe

I have been a Kit Drummer, Percussionist (Djembe, Samba/marching drumming, Darbuka, Cajon, and some Tablas and Rik) Guitarist, Violinist and Singer since the age of 5 as I grew up in a musicial family.

I have performed, composed and recorded with countless bands, ensembles and solo in many many different scenarios ;
Rock drumming on big stages at festivals, Ceilidhs for weddings, Walkabout street performances in costume, Circus events etc

My main musical strengths are powerful percussive rhythmical backing and leading, strong Celtic and world styles and improvisation on the violin, a fun and curious demeanour when it comes to teaching groups of children and/or adults and I'm also an honest, activist flavoured singer/songwriter.

I have taught violin, guitar and percussion in schools, summer camps and for MIND (mental health charity).

One big achievement was organising and leading approx 100 drummers in the marching drumming throughout 2019 for (XR) Extinction Rebellion Climate activism in Bristol and London. This has had a big positive impact on many peoples lives (as there were at least 20 community drumming splinter groups formed after this some of which continue to this day) and hopefully some positive impact on political and public opinion of the importance of the climate crisis.

I can have a cheeky and playful attitude to performing if suitable, having worked multiple times with circus, but can also dress up smart for weddings!

I offer a remote recording service and composition (if needed) for violin.

I am keen to work more with theatre and circus as I am also a juggler (can be with fire) and hugely enjoy and practice movement and physical disciplines such as yoga, acrobatics, chi gung.
