Drxftkid has always had an interest in music, ever since he was a baby - imitating Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ with a single ‘Hot Wheel’ glove and mini leather jacket.
Drxftkid recieved most of his training from musical theatre to begin with - as he was involved in ‘Stage Coach’ from the age of 6, and ‘The Midlands Drama Society’ till the age of 10. He made sure he was a part of a stage production every year of his education - until the end of his degree; maximising his development with intermittent classical guitar and vocal lessons throughout.
Though initially a Jazz singer, drxftkid’s style has continued to evolve since he released his first original track in 2019. Nowadays, drxftkid’s music has adopted the characteristics of two additional genres (Psychadelic Alt-Rock / Hip-Hop).
In the last 3 years, drxftkid has been working on the quality of his craft flat out - mostly through solo experimentation sessions on FL Studio and Logic Pro in his shed - but also through the training he has recieved during his 2-year course with ‘The Ivors Academy’, and 3-month production Internship with BritAsiaTV.
Drxftkid’s biggest musical inspirations are those Artists that aim to create an experience for their listeners - immersing them into the world that they have created. In Hip-Hop, these include: Future, Tyler The Creator, The Weeknd, and Lil Peep. In the Alt-Rock Psychadelic Space, these include: King Krule, Tame Impala, Oasis, The Beatles, Ocean Alley.
