About Catherine Porter
Catherine is a Suzuki cello teacher based in Central London. She also teaches violin and piano. She runs end of term concerts for her students, and weekly Suzuki group lessons.
Catherine held a scholarship to study Music at the University of Cambridge, and subsequently completed a Masters in Cello Performance at the Royal Academy of Music. She also received a teaching qualification from Academy, known as the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music.
Catherine currently teaches cello at City Junior School, the City of London School for Girls and Bloomsbury Cello School. Her cello students range from age 4 to adult, and from beginner to grade 8. She holds grade 8 distinction in violin and teaches it up to grade 6 level. She also teaches pianists up to grade 5.
In the past, Catherine worked as a Cello Fellow for the Royal Academy of Music. She also previously worked as a Graduate teacher for Berkshire Maestros and an instrumental teacher at MusicScool and Wimbledon Music School. Catherine has also worked as a classroom Music teacher at La Petite École Française, and a Cello Sales Associate at Stringers of London.
