The MU’s commitment to giving its members the best possible service and benefits saw a new high this year. Alongside the many existing benefits, MU members can now also enjoy discounted car parking, cinema tickets, gym membership, and hotel rooms.

As we look ahead to 2026, the MU Executive Committee has agreed a small increase to the standard membership subscription of £1.25 per month for new joiners and renewing members from 1 January 2026.

Other memberships will also increase proportionally, except student membership, which will remain at £24 annually.

Please do take a look at our extensive benefits and services page that showcases the value of being an MU member.

Working hard for our members

From shaping legislation to hitting another membership milestone, the MU has had another extremely successful year.

We’ve recovered a total of £1,941,200 for members between 1 January and 31 August 2025 ( including money collected due to unpaid fees and royalties owed). As MU membership continues to rise, we’ve also now reached over 36,500 members - making the Union even stronger in its collective power.

We welcomed the new Employment Rights Bill - an achievement that has come from years of union work with the Labour Party to strengthen employment rights and security at work for all workers. This year also saw our lobbying work for the Government's manifesto commitments recognised in its Creative Industries Sector Plan, ensuring commitments to music education, EU touring, music streaming and more.
