The Musicians' Union wants to come to an agreement with Northern Ballet management and has outlined simple measures to give musicians security without impacting creative decision-making.

These include a core players list, which offers flexibility for companies and a minimum level of security for musicians, as well as ensuring terms such as use of deps and whether travel payments are fair to the workforce.

The Union is continuing to lobby decision-makers for funding to support a live orchestra engaged with fair pay and conditions for every performance, and pursuing legal action on specific issues on behalf of members.
