Musicians preparing to travel to the US for SXSW 2026 can now access a practical new video guide covering the key entry rules and processes you’ll need to understand before you go.

In this short conversation, Westley Holdsworth, Grants and Programmes Manager at PRS Foundation’s International Showcase Fund, speaks with Matthew Covey, Executive Director of Tamizdat and Attorney Partner at Covey Law. Together, they outline what musicians should expect when entering the US under an ESTA for SXSW, and offer clear guidance on how to prepare.

The video covers key practical guidance for artists travelling to SXSW, including:

  • How the ESTA exception for official showcases works
  • What documents to bring
  • How to prepare for questions at the border
  • Do’s and don’ts to help ensure a smooth entry into the US
