The Musicians’ Union strongly believes that all music is of equal value and we apply this principle in representing all of our members’ repertoire via our collection and distribution systems and our respected member services. Whether our members’ work is being distributed by major record companies and involving internationally successful performers, or by small independent labels and involving emerging artists, we believe that for YouTube to discriminate against any music supplier over access to its dominant music content platform would be unfair. Plus, in the long term, such discrimination is contrary to the wider interests of the music consumer, the music industry, and platforms which rely on it for creative content such as YouTube.
