A new resource released by shesaid.so – a global network of women in the music industry – aims to help more people back Black led ventures in the music industry.

The article includes lists of:

  • Coalitions & Social Networking Groups
  • Key Black Films/Series to watch (starring, directed or created by)
  • Documentaries (including interviews with black leaders, thinkers, academics)
  • Books addressing experiences of race and written by Black authors
  • Podcasts hosted by Black thinkers or discussing race

An accomplished professional violinist, Jeff Wakefield enjoyed a distinguished orchestral career and took great pride in his lifelong association with the Musicians' Union, of which he became a member in 1952. This tribute was written by his son-in-law, David Marcou.

Tribute to Martin Bowen

Martin Bowen enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a professional bassoonist and was deeply committed to the Musicians' Union. After joining in 1973, he served with dedication as an MU Steward for BBC NOW. This tribute has been written by his brother-in-law, John.
