On Sunday 4 October 2026, from 1.00pm in Victoria Square, Birmingham, representatives from over 60 organisations, including trade unions and community groups, will gather for a Unity Rally celebrating unity over division and hate.

Organised by Stand Up to Racism and TUC Midlands, the event will feature keynote speeches from prominent national figures, music, entertainment, and a march through the city centre.

Stephen Brown, MU Midlands Regional Organiser, who has been helping to organise the rally, said: “This will be the West Midlands saying to everyone that we have more in common with each other than any differences, and it will be a celebration of the joy and unity in our local and multicultural communities.

“It is to demonstrate that the people and communities of this region will not be drawn into the far right’s narrative of scapegoating and demonising migrants and people of colour. We will show that those of us living and working in the West Midlands stand as one with our communities and that we oppose the ideology, violence, and vitriol of the far right.”

Join us in showing solidarity

The MU will be standing and marching with the trade union bloc, and we urge MU members to join us in showing solidarity with one another and with our colleagues from the global majority in opposing all forms of racism.

If you would like to attend the rally, you can join us on the day or let the MU Midlands team know in advance so that we can ensure we have sufficient MU flags and banners. Please email us at midlands@themu.org.
