Benedetti Foundation Opens Applications for Teacher Training and Student Workshop Weekend in Dundee

The Benedetti Foundation will be back in Scotland in March, with their next full Benedetti Sessions weekend taking place in Caird Hall, Dundee.

Applications have been reopened for workshops for primary schools, primary classroom teachers and string teachers.

The following events will be happening over the weekend, 6 March to 8 March:

Primary School Workshops

These two workshops are free for schools to attend, and are suitable for School Years Primary 3-6. They will focus on the fundamentals of music, led by Nicola Benedetti and the Foundation's general musicianship team.

There are two sessions to choose between. Session one runs from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, session two runs from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm.

Teaching Music with Confidence Workshop

For any teacher, teaching assistant, trainee teacher responsible for teaching music in primary schools – this free afternoon workshop on Friday 6 March aims to build confidence in delivering music in your classroom.

The session will run 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm on Friday 6 March and is free to attend.

String Teachers' Development Weekend

This weekend of workshops is designed specifically for string teachers – whether you teach a whole class, small groups, individuals or in any other number of situations. Topics covered include engaging students with scales and studies, performance anxiety, Kodaly, lesson planning and much more.

The workshop costs £10 to attend, and will run on both Saturday 9:00 am – 4:45 pm and Sunday 9:15 am – 5:15 pm.

Young String Players

Over this weekend, the Benedetti Foundation is also working with young musicians in string orchestra workshops of three different levels.

The beginner orchestra is now full, but there are spaces for Intermediate (Grade 4-6) and Advanced (Grade 7+) string players.

The workshops will take place on Saturday 7 March and Sunday 8 March, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm. They cost £10 to attend and potential participants will be asked to submit a video of themselves playing as part of the application form.

General Musicianship workshop

There are also still a few spaces available on the Foundation's General Musicianship workshop for beginner children in primary school who play any instrument. This takes place on Saturday 7 March in the morning only, from 9:00 am – 12:15 pm and costs £3 to attend.
